Where have we been?

Oxwash was founded in 2018 by Dr Kyle Grant, born out of frustration from the perpetually broken washing machines in his college laundry.

Armed with just a bike and a backpack, Kyle started collecting and washing clothes for fellow students, this quickly snowballed into a growing on demand laundry business as interest grew.

Oxwash is now fully operational in London, Oxford and Cambridge with an ever growing team and we are very proud of our shiny new state of the art laundry facilities we call 'lagoons'. Next...The rest of the World!

Where are we going?

Oxwash is excited to grow into new cities, new countries and wash new things, we are proudly venture-backed and rapidly iterating our technology along with our exceptional partners.

We are developing a modular and rapidly scalable model that we will deploy into new cities across the UK as well as to other countries.

Our goal is to eradicate the impact of washing on the world's ecosystems whilst developing the ultimate in cleanliness and finish. We are determined to lead the charge and prove a closed-loop washing service is possible.

Simple, Sustainable Laundry and Wet Cleaning

In our Oxford lagoon we use water reclamation to reuse the water from a previous rinse cycle for the next wash cycle. This saves up to 60% of the water consumption versus a typical commercial washing machine and 70% compared to a domestic washing machine. Our London and Cambridge lagoons have second generation weighting technology that removes the requirement to recycle water as less is used in the process, proportional to the weight of the load.
We're rapidly implementing microfibre filtration to capture more than 95% of all the fibres shed during washing. This process prevents plastic pollution of our waterways and drinking water. One third of ALL ocean plastic are microfibres from our clothes, this has to stop.
Disinfection of our washing is performed using ozone, biodegradable disinfectants (PAP) and quaternary ammonium compounds. Generated using renewable electricity and oxygen from the air we breathe, ozone is an extremely powerful disinfecting agent against many microorganisms.
Automated dynamic dosing of biodegradable detergents prevents surplus chemical usage. We're working hard with our partners to get a maximum clean with minimum chemistry addition to our washing process.
