Welcome to Big Blue

Located in Swindon, our flagship facility ‘Big Blue’ is being built to become the world's first industrial-sized, net-zero textile cleaning facility. This 20,000 square foot unit will be fully powered and heated by renewable energy for electricity and soon, additionally, biogas.

Big Blue will enable us to offer a fully integrated, end-to-end solution to our clients. We can create an even more bespoke offering for businesses beyond laundry, wash and rental, with inventory management and fulfilment solutions.

PIONEERING THROUGH INNOVATION

We are leading the change in the laundry industry, using cutting-edge technology and automation of sortation and stain identification to revolutionise the sector. With no existing template for the solution we needed, we developed from scratch the systems and technology required to move the industry to the next level. Our technology is amongst the most advanced in the world, and our end-to-end laundry service platform is the most advanced.

During our launch phase at the facility, we will focus on implementing, what we call, our exception flow process, which closely resembles the proven process and machinery utilised in our existing facilities. This phase serves as a crucial foundation for the subsequent stages of our operations.

PHASE 2

Moving on to phase two, we will introduce our fully operational automated garment processing system and tunnel finishing capabilities. This significant upgrade allows us to clean garments on a scale that surpasses anything we could have imagined in the past. With our automated garment processing system, we have harnessed cutting-edge technology to streamline and optimise the cleaning process. This advanced system eliminates the need for manual intervention at various stages, reducing human error and enhancing efficiency.

Furthermore, our tunnel finishing technology provides us with a remarkable advantage in achieving impeccable garment presentation. This innovative system utilises a combination of steam, heat, and specialised machinery to remove wrinkles, improve fabric texture, and create a professional finish. The tunnel finishing process ensures that garments leave our facility in pristine condition, ready for immediate use.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES

The integration of these advanced technologies into our operations marks a significant milestone for our company. Not only are we enhancing our capacity to handle larger volumes of garments and linens, but we also elevate the overall quality of our cleaning services through improved convenience, speed, and precision.

The competencies, technologies and patents that we have acquired through our journey of innovation and self-disruption can be applied to solve many complex problems in the laundry sector and beyond.

Our pioneering spirit, best practices and unrivalled commitment to technological innovation allow us to set the standard for sustainable and profitable laundry services.

Our Network

Big Blue is supported by smaller, inner-city lagoons in Oxford and London. Combined, they provide us with an incredibly powerful network that demonstrates what the industry can achieve at scale. Our lagoons have already proved the concept that it is possible to achieve a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for the textile cleaning industry however, Big Blue is the next step to achieving this at a grand scale.

COMPANIES USING OXWASH

"Every Hurr item has a unique cleaning and finishing process, so working alongside Hurr’s garment science team and Oxwash's tech teams, we've been able to re-engineer the cleaning process while ensuring every rented item arrives in perfect condition for our customers."

Victoria Prew, CEO & Founder

“Oxwash's localised customer service and the direct relationship we have with our account manager has made the process much more seamless and efficient. The laundry industry has been slow to evolve with the times but we believe Oxwash can be the catalyst for change.”

James Fry, CEO & Founder

“So far I can only say I am very happy, we have an abundance of uniform all week due to the quick turn over and twice a week collections. This hopefully means when we need to invest in new uniform we can order less. I am very impressed with the level of communication, I received some last year to let me know of delayed pick ups due to the weather (something I didn’t get from our previous company).”

University of Cambridge

"Loved the jackets, they were perfect. We will definitely be using Oxwash again!"
