Business & Insights

Are you looking for a dynamic and challenging role? Meet Jose, one of our Shift Managers. Jose’s job requires him to multitask and ensure the highest standards of quality. From processing orders to troubleshooting equipment, every day is different. Read on to learn more about Jose's day in this exciting role at Oxwash.

What does a typical day look like for you as a Shift Manager?

On a typical day I manage the early shift at our Battersea lagoon, ensuring that every customer’s order is processed according to our standard operating procedures (SOPs) and their preferences. I ensure that the team meets deadlines and maintains the highest standards of quality.

While processing tasks may seem repetitive, each day is different. To prepare for the day ahead, I perform recurring tasks such as checking washer drums, cleaning lint filters on dryers, invoicing B2B customers, draining iron boilers, preparing rollers, and checking for pending orders that need to be cleaned (we call this ‘processing’) or finished (which can involve hand or roller ironing, pressing and folding or hanging).

Next, I sort customer orders for wet cleaning or normal washing, using our SOPs to decide how to achieve the best results on any garments we receive.

Who are you working most closely with?

On the early shift (6:00am to 2:00pm), I work with our permanent Shift Supervisors and Laundry Assistants as well as our ad hoc team members who sometimes join the shift.

What do you think it takes for someone to succeed in this role at Oxwash?

To succeed in this role, one must be able to multitask, from processing orders to helping our delivery riders for the day ahead, to troubleshooting equipment and organising other staff members.

What skills have you developed in your role?

While I already had experience in management and running shifts, I have developed these skills further since joining Oxwash and our big Battersea lagoon.

If you're looking for a dynamic and challenging role, then a Shift Manager or processing role at Oxwash might be for you! You'll have the chance to ensure the highest standards of quality and develop your leadership and management skills - all while completing customer orders.
